iEARN Daffodil and Tulip Project 2013

I cant believe our school has participated in a world wide project about the environment! There are lots of opportunities! 🙂

Our Global Classroom

iEARN Daffodil and Tulip Project 2013

Students in different parts of the world plant bulbs together and collect data on various parameters (latitude, longitude, sunlight, temperature etc.) and track when they blossom.

Classrooms around the world choose Daffodil and/or Tulip bulbs to plant during the same week in November. Students will be asked to collect temperature data throughout the experiment and report to the group – in addition they will report when the blooms appear etc.  The project can be as involved or as simple as your class needs it to be.

Snapshots

3/4A CLASSROOM

Use at least one of these pictures to come up with a snapshot piece of writing. Use powerful language and interesting sentences. Think about using a complex sentence like we used this morning. Think about what you see, hear, smell, feel and taste. Revise your work before posting.

Donkeys Can’t Fly on Planes

WOW! Look at this Article. This was a while back and I didnt notice. THANKS MR ANDREWS FOR LETTING ME KNOW THAT THIS WAS ON YOUR BLOG.

3/4A CLASSROOM

This is a newspaper article from The Age. The article is about student stories that have been published in a book called Donkeys Can’t Fly on Planes. Nyetap, Nyanom and Guguei from our grade are three of the authors of the book.

Read the newspaper article from The Age and think of key observations from the text. What questions could we ask and what could our inferences be?

One Man That Inspires Us All: Nelson Mandela

OMG!!! Have you ever seen kids do this??? 😀

Our Global Classroom

An Inspiring Image from 2012: Nelson Mandela’s Birthday.

Children at the Bethany Home — Place of Safety sing “Happy Birthday” to Nelson Mandela on his 94th birthday on July 18, 2012 in Mthatha, South Africa.

What’s so great about…

  1. Why do you think people say this is so great?
  2. List what makes it “outstanding?”
  3. What would you do differently?
  4. Who is Nelson Mandela? Why is he one of the most inspirational human beings in the world?

My grade has the populist blog in the school. YAYAYAYAYYA! My grade has now got 40,000 hits on our class blog. You can see it at https://56jclassroom.wordpress.com/2013/03/29/mrs-joyce-wakes-up-to-40000-hits-on-our-blog/ Over night my teacher woke up to this number of hits and I hope she was as much as excitement in her as I had. If we do get 100,000 I will literally faint like my friend Rennae. Wait until our hits get higher and higher that they might reach the moon!!! 😉

Our Global Classroom

Congratulations everyone you’ve done it 40,000 hits. Now the journey to 50,000 begins. My goal for the end of 2013 will be 100,000 hits, the way we are traveling we’ll smash that by the end of the year.
